St. George Couple Builds DreamMaker Franchise Around Family and Values

For Dan and Eden Rudd, opening a DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen franchise in St. George, Utah was their way to shape their own future, one that was built around their values, their community, and their four children.

Backgrounds That Prepared Them

Dan brought years of construction experience, along with lessons he had learned in the corporate world around operations and management. Eden’s background included a mix of construction and design, formal interior design training, and years spent raising their children. Together, they wanted to create a path that granted them more freedom, more family time, and a meaningful long-term business.

Finding the Right Franchise

Their introduction to DreamMaker came through Ramon Campbell, a family friend and DreamMaker owner in South Valley, Utah. At the time, the Rudds were considering starting an independent construction company. What changed their minds was the structure behind the DreamMaker brand. DreamMaker provided established systems, proven processes, and a community of experienced owners willing to help and share what they have learned.

When asked what set DreamMaker apart from starting a new business, Dan said, “Because they have processes!” Eden agreed, and added, “I was looking for a good, stable business that my family could be a part of.”

Balancing Family and Business

Launching a franchise while taking care of four children has required them to be flexible and trust in each other. When family needs more attention, one of them steps in; when the business needs more, the other person tends to the business. Running the business has also brought Eden a sense of fulfillment for herself: “I’m filling my cup through doing something for myself so I can be a better mom for my kids.”

For Dan, the decision was rooted in a long-term vision. Leaving a stable job and investing personal savings required sacrifice, but the potential to create greater independence and opportunity for their family made the risk worthwhile.

The Value of the Network

One of the best perks of franchise ownership has been the DreamMaker network. Dan and Eden have leaned on the experiences of other owners and their knowledge, rather than having to learn every lesson themselves through trial and error.

Whether evaluating marketing opportunities, refining processes, or navigating operational decisions, the franchise network has shortened the learning curve.

“It’s definitely helped us, being able to lean on other people’s experience,” Dan said. “It feels like we don’t have to reinvent the wheel.”

Early Wins

For Dan and Eden, the early months after signing the franchise agreement and preparing for opening the business provided important lessons about balancing independence with the discipline of following a proven franchise model. Over time, however, the systems that initially felt restrictive began to reveal their value, and the business increasingly felt like their own.

The Rudds held their Grand Opening of their Design Center in April 2026,  and have now completed numerous projects and begun to grow their team. After one early bathroom remodel, Dan thanked the homeowners for trusting him with their bathroom remodel and told them their home and lifestyle represented part of what he was working toward. The homeowner responded that if Dan kept doing the kind of work he had done on their job, that future would arrive sooner than he realized.

“That was one of the biggest compliments I could imagine, and made me proud of the business we were building,” Dan recalled. That feedback has reinforced their long term vision: a profitable business that supports their family and helps the St. George community.

Advice for Future Owners

For those who are considering franchise ownership, the Rudds encourage people to look past just the financial gain to the values behind the business. They believe that DreamMaker offers more than a proven remodeling model; it provides a framework for building a business grounded in integrity, service, and strong relationships. At the same time, the established systems, tools, and support network help new owners avoid common mistakes and accelerate their development.

“It’s nice to know I’m in control of my business and my destiny while also having all of the tools and the resources available to me from the franchise,” Dan said. “If you want to jumpstart it and have the recipe for success handed to you, I think DreamMaker is the best way.”
