Project Overview

Ten Years in China. A Kitchen That Honors the Influence.

These clients purchased their Hobe Sound home in 2016 after a decade in China – and the experience had shaped their aesthetic. They wanted a modern, clean kitchen with an added Asian flair. DreamMaker designed around that vision: dark horizontal-grain wood cabinets picking up the floor tone, white quartz for clean contrast, and a fan-shaped backsplash that echoes the form of an Asian fan. The island was extended, the bar top eliminated, and a double oven replaced the original stove.

About The Neighborhood

Hobe Sound, Florida is one of the Treasure Coast’s most sought-after coastal communities, known for its quiet charm, natural beauty, and relaxed lifestyle. Surrounded by preserved parks and beaches, it offers a laid-back pace of life with a strong sense of community and convenient access to nearby shopping, dining, and recreation.

The Challenge

What Wasn’t Working

Before the remodel, the space faced several challenges:

An existing kitchen that felt generic and disconnected from the clients' design sensibilities developed abroad
An island spaced too far from the appliances - limiting workflow and prep efficiency
A bar top raising part of the island and breaking up the uniform counter height
No double oven and no dedicated pantry cabinet for a household that cooks seriously

Like many homes in Cave Springs, the master bath retained its original footprint — creating real functional limitations for a busy household and making what should be a personal retreat feel like an afterthought.

BEFORE:

“The fan backsplash was the detail that made us certain this was right. It’s subtle but completely intentional. DreamMaker understood exactly what we were looking for.”

The Solution

Built Around a Decade of Influence and a Love for Clean Modern Design.

To solve the bathroom’s layout and style challenges, DreamMaker redesigned the master bath with improved flow, custom storage, natural light, and a clean modern finish. Removing the unused Jacuzzi unlocked the footprint entirely, custom cabinetry made every inch purposeful, and thoughtful material choices brought the spa-like atmosphere the homeowners had always wanted.

Key Improvements included:

Horizontal-grain dark wood tone cabinets selected to pick up on the existing floor coloring
White quartz countertops chosen for cleanliness, contrast, and durability
Fan-shaped backsplash designed and installed to echo the form of an Asian fan
Island extended toward the refrigerator and stove for a tighter, more efficient workflow
Additional storage built into the extended island
Bar top eliminated and countertop height unified at one consistent level throughout
Stove changed to a double oven for expanded cooking capacity
Extra pantry cabinet added for additional food storage
