A Modern Black and White Kitchen Transformation in The Woodlands

How DreamMaker turned a dark, brown, split-level kitchen into a breathtaking black and white space with a new beverage station, leveled countertops, and lighting that changes everything.

Project Overview

From Plain Brown to Black and White Beauty.

This Woodlands kitchen was dark and dominated by a brown palette. An unused desk area wasted valuable cabinet space and a split-level countertop made the layout feel fragmented. DreamMaker converted the desk area into a beverage station, leveled the countertops, and rebuilt the entire visual identity around a bold black and white palette.

About The Neighborhood

The Woodlands is one of North Houston’s most sought-after communities — a vibrant, family-friendly township with beautiful homes, tree-lined neighborhoods, and an easy pace that belies its proximity to the region’s booming business corridors.

The Challenge

What Wasn’t Working

Before the remodel, the space faced several challenges:

A dark, brown palette making the kitchen feel heavy and dated
A split countertop with a bar height section that broke up the flow
An unused desk area consuming cabinet space without contributing anything useful
Poor lighting making the space feel darker than it needed to be

Like many homes in Cave Springs, the master bath retained its original footprint — creating real functional limitations for a busy household and making what should be a personal retreat feel like an afterthought.

BEFORE:

“The beverage station, the countertop change, the new lighting – each thing made a difference on its own but together they completely transformed the space. It is breathtaking.”

The Solution

Built Around How They Actually Live.

To solve the bathroom’s layout and style challenges, DreamMaker redesigned the master bath with improved flow, custom storage, natural light, and a clean modern finish. Removing the unused Jacuzzi unlocked the footprint entirely, custom cabinetry made every inch purposeful, and thoughtful material choices brought the spa-like atmosphere the homeowners had always wanted.

Key Improvements included:

Unused desk area converted into a functional beverage station
Split countertop redesigned to a single level - opening the kitchen significantly
Bold black and white palette replacing the dated brown tones
New LED lighting added throughout plus an extra pendant over the key work zone
Cambria Quartz countertops and Sherwin Williams paint completing the transformation
