How DreamMaker took a 1980s bathroom with wallpaper and a never-used deck tub and rebuilt it from the studs into a showstopper with a massive walk-in shower and gold accents.

Project Overview

From 1980s to Showstopper.

This Spring homeowner had a 1980s master bathroom – wallpaper, deck tub, outdated everything. The dream was a complete gut and redo centered on a very large walk-in shower with two showerheads, more storage replacing a wasted knee space, and a glamorous gold and white aesthetic. DreamMaker delivered a complete transformation.

About The Neighborhood

Spring is one of North Houston’s most sought-after communities — a vibrant, family-friendly town with diverse housing, tree-lined neighborhoods, and an easy pace that belies its proximity to Houston’s booming business corridor.

The Challenge

What Wasn’t Working

Before the remodel, the space faced several challenges:

A 1980s bathroom with wallpaper and dated tile throughout
A large deck tub that was never used consuming significant floor space
A very small shower that didn't serve the homeowner's needs
A knee space in the vanity area that was never used and contributing no storage

Like many homes in Cave Springs, the master bath retained its original footprint — creating real functional limitations for a busy household and making what should be a personal retreat feel like an afterthought.

BEFORE:

“We walked into a 1980s bathroom and DreamMaker gave us back a showstopper. Every detail is exactly right – the shower, the gold accents, the storage. We genuinely can’t believe it’s the same room.”

The Solution

A Complete Gut and Redo. Every Inch New.

To solve the bathroom’s layout and style challenges, DreamMaker redesigned the master bath with improved flow, custom storage, natural light, and a clean modern finish. Removing the unused Jacuzzi unlocked the footprint entirely, custom cabinetry made every inch purposeful, and thoughtful material choices brought the spa-like atmosphere the homeowners had always wanted.

Key Improvements included:

Full gut of the entire bathroom - everything removed and rebuilt from scratch
Unused deck tub removed and replaced with a very large walk-in shower
Dual showerheads installed in the new shower
Knee space converted into proper cabinet storage throughout the vanity area
Glamorous gold and white palette carried through every finish and fixture
Emser tile, Cosentino Silestone Quartz, KCD cabinets, and MSI LVP flooring throughout
