Project Overview
Everything She Valued. A Home She Could Actually Manage.
After years in a large family home full of memories and meaning, this Mendota Heights homeowner knew it was time for something smaller. When the right townhome came available nearby she moved quickly – and then called DreamMaker to make it feel like home.
Working alongside her long-time interior designer, DreamMaker customized every space around the homeowner’s beautiful possessions, her love of cooking and entertaining, and the life she was stepping into rather than the one she was leaving behind. The result is a home that feels neither like a compromise nor a fresh start – but like a natural continuation of who she has always been.

About The Neighborhood
Mendota Heights is a quietly distinguished Twin Cities suburb – established, well-kept, and home to residents who bring real taste and intention to the spaces they live in. A townhome customized with gallery walls, a stone fireplace, a piano library, and a lake view through a sunroom office fits this community as naturally as the homeowner herself.
The Challenge
What Wasn’t Working
Before the remodel, the space faced several challenges:
- A townhome that was perfectly located but needed significant customization to feel like the homeowner's own
- A kitchen that didn't reflect her well-known culinary ambitions or her aesthetic standards
- No gallery space for a meaningful collection of paintings and art pieces
- A sunroom with unrealized potential as a light-filled workspace with a lake view
- Rooms that functioned generically rather than around the specific way she lived
- The emotional and practical challenge of bringing treasured possessions from a large family home into a fundamentally different kind of space
- A project requiring close collaboration between DreamMaker and an independent interior designer throughout
The townhome needed to feel like a destination rather than a retreat – a home chosen with intention, not settled for out of necessity.
“Our client loves her new home. What DreamMaker and her design team gave her was something genuinely difficult to achieve – a space that honors everything meaningful from her past while feeling completely right for where she is now. She didn’t want to feel like she had downsized. She doesn’t.”

Built Around How They Actually Live

- Kitchen opened to an angled dining table and seating area anchored by a dramatic stone panel clad fireplace

- Master bathroom finished as a serene, calming retreat with a large stone shower and soaking tub
