A First-Floor Bathroom in Williamsburg Revitalised With Painted Cabinetry, Light Quartz, and a New Glass Shower Enclosure

How DreamMaker preserved the existing shower and vanity tile that were in good condition, removed wallpaper, painted the vanity, replaced the countertop with light quartz, installed a frameless glass shower enclosure, and completed the space with a new mirror, sconces, and faucet.

Project Overview

A Revitalised Look. No Unnecessary Demolition.

This Williamsburg client came to DreamMaker while their first-floor bathroom was in mid-repair – the toilet was not yet installed and the flooring had been partially taken up. The shower and vanity back wall had nice existing tile that was unaffected by the repairs; DreamMaker kept both intact and focused on everything that could be refreshed. The result is a revitalised bathroom that feels genuinely new without having torn out what was already working.

About The Neighborhood

Williamsburg is one of Virginia’s most sought-after historic communities — a picturesque, family-friendly city with charming homes, tree-lined neighborhoods, and an easy pace that belies its proximity to the Hampton Roads’ booming economic corridor.

The Challenge

What Was Not Working

Before the remodel, the space faced several challenges:

A bathroom mid-repair - toilet not yet installed, flooring partially lifted
Wallpaper that the homeowner wanted removed throughout
A vanity that needed refreshing without full replacement
An outdated countertop and lavatory faucet
No glass shower enclosure - the shower opening lacked a proper door

Like many homes in Cave Springs, the master bath retained its original footprint — creating real functional limitations for a busy household and making what should be a personal retreat feel like an afterthought.

BEFORE:

“We love seeing how projects come together and how much joy it brings to homeowners. This bathroom came together beautifully.”

The Solution

Built Around Keeping What Was Good and Refreshing Everything Else.

To solve the bathroom’s layout and style challenges, DreamMaker redesigned the master bath with improved flow, custom storage, natural light, and a clean modern finish. Removing the unused Jacuzzi unlocked the footprint entirely, custom cabinetry made every inch purposeful, and thoughtful material choices brought the spa-like atmosphere the homeowners had always wanted.

Key Improvements included:

Existing shower tile and vanity back tile preserved - both in good condition and unaffected by prior repairs
Wallpaper removed throughout
Existing vanity painted for a fresh updated look without replacement
Countertop replaced with a light-coloured quartz material
Brand-new frameless glass shower enclosure installed
New lavatory faucet fitted
Walls painted following wallpaper removal
New mirror and vanity sconces installed completing the full refresh
