Proper lighting is essential in every part of your home, especially the bathroom. Great bathroom lighting will brighten up your space or even help you to relax. Installing the wrong light fixtures will make it difficult to groom and do other bathroom tasks. In today’s post, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of The Woodlands, an elite bathroom contractor, shares the do’s and don’ts of bathroom lighting.
Do Work Your Way From the Top to the Bottom
To kick things off, you’ll need to select between recessed overhead lighting or installing a flush-mount ceiling light for general lighting. Next, you’ll need to light up the vanity area with bathroom task lighting, which should be installed above or along the sides of the vanity mirror.
Next, your bathroom remodeler can help you decide how to illuminate your tub and shower area. It’s also a good idea to install undercabinet strip lighting for the vanity, or as an alternative, consider installing mirrors with integrated lights. Dimming lights are another thoughtful touch that can help you to relax and unwind during your bathroom routine.
Don’t Overlook CRI & Color Temperature
When you’re installing LED lights in your bathroom space, pay close attention to the wattage and the brightness of the lights. A bulb’s color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K) and is used to indicate whether a bulb emits cool or warm light. The lower the color temperature of the bulb, the warmer the light. On the other hand, the higher the color temperature of the bulb, the cooler the light will appear.
The Color Rendering Index (CRI) measures how accurately a light source shows the color of the object. A room with old lighting can make colors in the room appear dull.
