Soon after purchasing their dream home, our clients wanted a kitchen that maximized storage, improved functionality, and reflected a clean mid-century modern style. With a smaller footprint, thoughtful design was essential to make every detail count.
We incorporated slab-style cabinetry—white uppers to brighten the space and dark base cabinets for contrast—along with elongated hex backsplash tile, white quartz countertops, and brushed bronze hardware to enhance natural light. Interior organization features, including an undercounter microwave drawer, roll-out trays, utensil organizers, and spice storage, ensure everything has a place while keeping countertops clear and functional.
A Light-Filled Kitchen Transformation
This remodel replaced builder-grade finishes with a fresh, elevated design that better reflects our homeowners’ style while improving the flow and functionality of the space. By removing a large corner pantry closet and replacing an exterior door to bring in more natural light, the kitchen instantly felt brighter and more open.
The design features two complementary cabinet finishes from Showplace Cabinetry—Heron Plume on the perimeter and Maple in Sable stain on the island—creating a warm, balanced foundation. Relocating pantry storage allowed the island to grow in size and usability, while finishes like Calacatta Valentin quartz, Basilica Pillar LVT, and Mesmerist Arabesque tile complete the cohesive, light-filled palette.
This full first-floor renovation transforms a traditional Springfield colonial into a bright, open home designed for a new stage of family life. While the home had strong character, its closed layout limited flow, light, and connection between spaces. Through thoughtful structural updates and intentional design, the first floor now feels unified, welcoming, and perfectly suited for gatherings with children and grandchildren.
Walls were removed between key living areas, supported by new structural beams and system relocations to create a true open-concept layout. The stairwell was opened to enhance sightlines and natural light, and spaces were reconfigured for improved function and efficiency. Continuous new wood flooring and a timeless palette of white cabinetry, quartz surfaces, and warm wood tones create cohesion throughout.
Original elements, including the brick fireplace, were carefully preserved and integrated into the updated design, maintaining the home’s character while elevating its performance. The result is a light-filled, connected space that balances tradition and modern living — ready for years of meaningful gatherings.
