3 Ways to Make Your Bathroom More Water-Efficient

March 22 is World Water Day. In honor of this observance, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Southern Lakes has important tips to help you save water in the bathroom.

Water covers most of our planet but over 97% of this amount is salt water. This means that there is a very limited amount of usable fresh water. Water conservation is important! As part of your custom bathroom remodel, we can make your bathroom more water-efficient. Learn how here.

1. Invest in Good Bathroom Fixtures

Quality bathroom fixtures are not just beautiful and durable. They are also much more water-efficient than their cheap alternatives. A poorly made faucet can be hard to close or it might not be able to close properly. This causes the tap to drip and waste water. Poor-quality faucets may also rust and stiffen only a few years after installation. We recommend sticking to well-respected brands for your bathroom remodel.

2. Use a Flow-Regulated Showerhead

A flow-regulated showerhead is one of the best ways to save water in the bathroom. This is because it delivers a flow rate of only 10 liters per minute compared to a typical showerhead that delivers a flow rate of 13.5 liters per minute. There’s not much difference in shower performance between the two, but the flow-regulated showerhead can save you a significant amount of water throughout the year.

3. Upgrade Your Toilet

A toilet is responsible for nearly a third of the water consumption in the average household. If you have an older toilet, we strongly recommend upgrading to a newer and more water-efficient model. Modern toilets can reduce water waste by up to 67%! Save thousands of gallons of water a year by installing a new toilet.
