When some homeowners embark on a renovation, they have one thing in mind: increased home value. However, a remodeling project offers many other benefits. Your local kitchen remodeling company elaborates on what these benefits are in this post.
A Study on Homeowner Satisfaction
The National Association of REALTORS® Research Group conducted a study to find out the reasons why homeowners pursued remodeling projects and the benefits that they gained from them. Here’s a breakdown of the study’s findings:
Upon completing exterior and interior remodeling projects:
- 32% of homeowners surveyed said they experienced better home functionality and livability, with the report calling better livability the single most important result of remodeling.
- 21% of the respondents said they had longer-lasting appliances and materials.
- 16% said they had a more appealing facade.
Upon completing renovations:
- 58% felt happy
- 38% felt satisfied
- 74% of homeowners surveyed had a greater desire to stay in their homes
- 65% of homeowners enjoyed being in their homes more
- 77% of homeowners felt a great sense of accomplishment
The Joy Score
Researchers crunched the numbers to come up with a Joy Score, which indicates homeowners’ satisfaction levels. Different remodeling projects, like kitchen and bathroom renovations, produced different scores, but overall, the typical Joy score was 9.6 on a scale of 1-10.
The Importance of Working With a Trusted Contractor
Renovations require a lot of time and effort but this study’s findings show that in the end, they’re worth it. Of course, the stress of a remodeling project can affect the satisfaction you get from finishing a project. Fortunately, there are several ways to minimize remodeling-related stress, like careful planning and hiring a trusted remodeling contractor.
