An Elevated Kitchen With Mudroom Addition in Ogden Built From a 1969 Kitchen Nobody Wanted Anymore
How DreamMaker removed the wall cutting the kitchen off from the living space, tore out a small wall housing the ovens and storage closet for a mudroom, replaced 1969 cabinets and tired wallpaper with two-toned cabinetry and an interesting backsplash, and created the effortlessly organised mudroom and laundry area the homeowners had always needed.

About The Neighborhood
Ogden is one of Northern Utah’s most sought-after communities β a vibrant, family-friendly city with beautiful homes, tree-lined neighborhoods, and an easy pace that belies its proximity to Salt Lake City’s booming business corridor.
The Challenge
What Was Not Working
- A kitchen cut off from the living space by an L-shaped wall - open concept only in theory
- Cabinets, wallpaper, and overall atmosphere frozen in 1969 apart from one countertop update
- A small wall housing the ovens and a storage closet taking space that could serve the mudroom better
- No mudroom anywhere in the home for effortless organisation
- Homeowners with detailed, specific design requirements that needed a patient, collaborative design process
Like many homes in Cave Springs, the master bath retained its original footprint β creating real functional limitations for a busy household and making what should be a personal retreat feel like an afterthought.

- Interesting backsplash design selected and installed as requested
- Large floor tiles laid throughout for a modern, clean aesthetic
