An Award-Winning Kitchen in Ogden That Won Best Residential Kitchen 2023 - and Deserved Every Bit of It
How DreamMaker opened a closed, too-small, poorly laid-out kitchen by relocating the pantry to the adjacent dining room, moving the refrigerator to the opposite wall, and adding double ovens and an ice maker - taking home the Best Residential Kitchen award in the $60k-$90k category.

Project Overview
A Kitchen the Homeowners Hated. Now a Kitchen That Won an Award.
These Ogden homeowners had a kitchen they simply did not like – closed off, too small, and laid out in a way that made it feel both cramped and dysfunctional. The goals were clear: open the flow, add double ovens, install an ice maker, and find a home for the pantry that was not in the kitchen itself. Designer and homeowner decided together that moving the pantry to the dining room next to the kitchen was the smartest move, and relocating the fridge to the adjacent wall freed up the main run for a far better layout. The end result speaks for itself – and took home the top award.

About The Neighborhood
Ogden is one of Northern Utah’s most sought-after communities — a vibrant, family-friendly city with beautiful homes, tree-lined neighborhoods, and an easy pace that belies its proximity to Salt Lake City’s booming business corridor.
The Challenge
What Was Not Working
- A closed-off kitchen that felt too small and poorly functional
- No space for double ovens or an ice maker within the existing layout
- A pantry location that ate into the kitchen footprint
- A refrigerator position that contributed to the awkward layout
Like many homes in Cave Springs, the master bath retained its original footprint — creating real functional limitations for a busy household and making what should be a personal retreat feel like an afterthought.
BEFORE:
“They felt the kitchen was closed off, too small, and the layout was not very functional. The end result speaks for itself – and took home the Best in Residential Kitchen award.”

Built Around Better Flow, More Appliances, and a Smarter Pantry Location.
To solve the bathroom’s layout and style challenges, DreamMaker redesigned the master bath with improved flow, custom storage, natural light, and a clean modern finish. Removing the unused Jacuzzi unlocked the footprint entirely, custom cabinetry made every inch purposeful, and thoughtful material choices brought the spa-like atmosphere the homeowners had always wanted.
Key Improvements included:
- Pantry relocated to the dining room directly adjacent to the kitchen for easy access
- Refrigerator moved to the adjacent wall, freeing the main run for an improved layout
- Double ovens added as a key feature of the redesigned cooking zone
- Ice maker installed
- Kitchen flow significantly improved throughout the opened, redesigned space
