Layout Dos and Don’ts to Achieve a Cohesive Bathroom Space

bathroom remodel should find a good balance between aesthetics and functionality. So, when you plan this project, its layout should be one of your top priorities. Here are some things you should and shouldn’t do to keep in mind and ways to make the most of every inch of space.

 Bathroom Layout Dos

  • Do focus on storage Function and aesthetics should be considered while designing a bathroom. This way, you won’t run out of space for the basics. Besides vanity drawers and cabinets, there are various storage options to consider. Larger items can be stored in vertical wall-hung cabinets, which you can incorporate into the floor plan. For a more streamlined design, recess your medicine cabinet into the wall instead of attaching a mirror.
  • Do keep the toilet hidden. Every bathroom should include a toilet, but it shouldn’t be the first thing anyone using it notices when they walk in. Place the toilet behind the door or tuck it away in a corner so no one can see it clearly. Even better, make the toilet in your new bathroom on its own so that users may still use it when someone is in the shower.
  • Do make sure the fixtures are the correct size. Check the scale of the new tub, vanity, or shower you choose for your bathroom. If you choose something overly large, the area will look and feel cramped. Your bathroom ought to be large enough to walk around without bumping into anything or squeezing between fixtures. Additionally, cleaning around the new fixtures is easier when they are the right size.

Bathroom Layout Don’ts

  • Don’t forget to take advantage of natural lighting. When planning your bathroom renovation project, you should consider how much natural light you have. Place important things near the windows, like the sink, vanity, and mirror. This gives you a handy light source that makes some tasks easier, like shaving or putting on makeup. Also, letting in natural light can make your bathroom feel more open and spacious and save you money on electricity for artificial lighting.
  • Don’t forget to fill any empty spaces. Installing more storage can be done in any vacant corner. However, if you want to give your new bathroom a luxurious and peaceful atmosphere, use that extra space for comfortable seating. While in the bath, people shouldn’t be restricted from using the toilet. Just remember that the chair shouldn’t take up too much space, nor should it obstruct the bathroom’s flow of traffic.
  • Don’t disregard the plumbing. The best way to save time and money when remodeling a bathroom is to work with the existing plumbing, even though there are numerous options available. Depending on where the bathroom is located, new pipes and drains must be dragged onto the ceilings and floors. When upgrading outdated fixtures, attach new ones to the current water lines.
