Green & Gray, Go Away! Master Bath Design & Build
Project Name
Green & Gray, Go Away! Master Bath Design & Build
Project Summary
Cristal & Craig wanted to expand their master bathroom by removing a wall, and update the aesthetic at the same time.
Project Story
They owned their house together for over 30 years on the West Side of Madison. They had done other remodels in the past and wanted to make it ready for aging in place. We installed handles and access for mobility as part of our comprehensive approach to adding function and purpose to a room that needed a makeover.
The first step was removing the tile and floors. Cristal & Craig chose a hexagon mosaic pattern for the flooring and a relaxing cream color for the wall tiles. Removing the avocado green tile was the first priority. We replaced a tub with a walk-in shower with floor-to-ceiling glass with a special coating to repel soap scum and water stains.
A wall was removed to create space and reinvent the room. A closet was swapped for a 60" vanity that offers more storage and better organization.
All electrical was updated and plumbing fixtures were replaced. A flush to the wall concealed medicine cabinet allows for more storage and organization and style, while keeping clutter and medications tucked out of sight. A modern picture frame acts as the door and the flush with the wall seamlessness makes it seem as if it isn't even there.
Mirrors, towel bars, toilet paper holder, and other accessories were fitted to compliment the style of the flooring and walls. The new quartz countertop is the finishing touch and centerpiece of the room.
What began as a one bathroom project expanded to another room. We also remodeled their guest bathroom in this project. Refacing the cabinets and hardware on the vanity, and added another quartz countertop.
Half of the guest bathroom tile was completed with a past remodel and had a hard-to-find 12x12 tan porcelain tile. The manufacturer had ceased production of this particular tile, but we were able to find some of the last reserves of it in New Jersey, which allowed us to merge the bathroom flooring into one uniform design.
We added 1'x2' porcelain tiles on the wall that complimented the flooring, in another replacement of avocado green.
