Trending Interior Paint Colors to Consider in 2022

In 2022, you might want to take the opportunity to liven up your home with color. It can be challenging to choose the right shade for your rooms, but top design firms and paint brands can provide guidance. Before starting your interior remodeling project, read on to learn more about the trending color picks for 2022.

Colors of the Year

Gray-Green

According to top paint companies, 2022 is the year for gray-green. This classic shade provides a feeling of serenity, balance and harmony. It brings restorative energy to your living room and other common areas. Often seen in nature, this hue is versatile enough to be used on everything from kitchen cabinets to your entry door.

Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year for 2022, Evergreen Fog SW 9130, is a great example. Evergreen Fog can be paired with warm neutrals such as camel or coffee brown. You may also want to add an extra layer of texture with natural materials such as wood and leather.

Soothing Blue

Another color trend for interiors are soothing blue tones. As its color pick for 2022, Pantone has chosen PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri. This color is described as a vibrant shade of periwinkle that mixes the familiar blue tone with the excitement of red. For living rooms and home offices, you may want to pair Very Peri with lush green tones to give off a refreshing, natural ambiance. In bedrooms, you may want to incorporate muted shades, such as mauve, for a balanced look.

Earthy Shades

Earthy color palettes are another go-to trend for a home remodel. Along with gray-green and soothing blue, several other colors are plucked straight from nature. Take Dunn-Edwards’ choice for 2022 Color of the Year: Art and Craft DET682, a warm, earthy shade that channels the richness of walnut wood. You may also want to match this brown hue with breezy neutrals to brighten your place.

Nature-Inspired Hues

Instead of picking one color of the year for 2022, Valspar has taken it up a notch and curated a palette of 12 nature-inspired hues. These 12 colors represent comfort and tranquility, and each hue was chosen for its earthly connection and optimistic features. The color palette includes warm neutrals and dusty pastels, ranging from light to bold shades.

You may also want to mix and match these colors on interior walls, cabinetry, doors and more. For instance, consider combining off-white Gilded Linen 6002-1A with the coppery Rustic Oak 2007-7B for a warm feeling in your living space and entryways.
