How to Plan an All-Season Outdoor Living Space

An all-season outdoor living space gives your family and friends a great view of nature during breezy springtimes, hot summers, and even cold winters. To create an exceptional outdor living space you would love, here are some considerations listed by a reliable local home remodeler.

Purpose

Your objectives for the outdoor space determine the way you plan and build it. You can use it for lunches and dinners with your family and friends. Alternatively, you can set up an outdoor theater or install a poolside deck. Just make sure there’s a roof above the space to protect it from the weather.

Fireplace or Fire Pits

Warm your outdoor space in the winter by adding a fireplace or fire pit. Your home renovator can also build wood or gas fire pits with grill tops so you can roast marshmallows or food.

Hot Tub

A hot tub can be a luxurious addition to your outdoor living area. With an efficient layout and good materials, you can certainly enjoy this feature all year round. Place the bathtub near your backdoor to shorten the path you need to walk.

Lighting

Lighting isn’t a problem on sunny days. But for evenings or in winter when it’s usually darker, you need to have sufficient artificial lighting to keep the area safe and comfortable. LED lights are a good idea because they consume less energy and emit more brightness – perfect for gatherings, games, and dinners on your deck or patio.

Furniture

You need weather-resistant, low-maintenance, and comfortable outdoor furniture. Avoid wrought iron chairs because while they look appealing, they won’t provide as much comfort as cushioned seats. To reduce weather damage to your furniture and accessories, use an extended roof or awning over the space.

Patio

Use your deck or porch as the foundation of your outdoor space. A covered porch with a heater in one corner will allow you to relax outside even on a cold day.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Play with the strengths and weaknesses of your space. Identify the good and bad things about it so that you can determine which specific areas are ideal for certain seasons. For example, a rose arch in your garden might look exquisite during summer and serve as a shade to protect you from the sun. But when it rains, it won’t be the best spot to sit down since it would be dripping.
