The Clubhouse

The Background:

• This kitchen is in a house that is used as a family gathering place, affectionately known as “The Clubhouse”. Three generations of this family share meals and special events in this cherished retreat.
• A frozen pipe that caused water damage was the catalyst to get this project started. The family decided this was a good time to do some long-needed updates to The Clubhouse.

The Concerns:

• Layout of the kitchen made it hard for several people to be in the kitchen at the same time
• Peninsula made for an awkward flow of traffic in and out of the kitchen
• Inadequate storage space in the kitchen

The Solution:

• By converting the peninsula to an island, we created a way for people to enter and exit the kitchen from several directions.
• Removing the peninsula also got rid of an awkward blind cabinet and expanded the storage space.
• Painted paneling, granite countertops, LVP flooring, and gray stained cabinets came together to totally transform the space and make it perfect for many more years of family gatherings!
