Modernizing a 1950’s Cape

Project Name
Modernizing a 1950's Cape
Project Summary
Swapping spaces created a better space and suited our clients needs for the future.
Project Story
The Challenge Imagine a 1950s-era home with limited space, a cramped bathroom, and a desire for a luxurious, modern update. This was the scenario faced by our client, who dreamed of a spacious shower, walk-in closet, larger doors, an upstairs laundry, all in calming grey tones, and, if possible, a bathtub for the grandkids. DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Chester County embraced this challenge with our signature blend of creativity, ingenuity, and dedication to customer satisfaction. Our Approach The original bathroom and an adjacent room, converted into a closet and dressing room with a sink, presented a limited area to work with. Our team devised a strategic solution: a bold space swap. We removed all additions to the former bedroom, transforming it into a spacious new bathroom. The original bathroom space was converted into a walk-in closet with a dedicated stackable washer and dryer area. We carefully extended the bathroom wall a few inches into the hallway to maximize the closet's size, creating a seamless and efficient solution. The newly designed bathroom is a testament to our expertise in maximizing space and creating a stylish, functional environment. The spacious 48' x 42' shower provides ample room for movement and is equipped with grab bars for easy access and safety. Additionally, the vanity offers generous storage, meeting the client's need for a clutter-free and organized space. With the expert incorporation of a bathtub, the bathroom becomes a welcoming haven for all ages. The newly designed bathroom is a testament to our expertise in maximizing space and creating a stylish, functional environment. Embracing the Client's Vision Our commitment to the client's desire for calm grey tones was evident throughout the renovation. We expertly selected materials and finishes that created a soothing, elegant atmosphere, further enhancing the spaciousness of the new bathroom. Exceeding Expectations Beyond the bathroom, the project demonstrated our meticulous attention to detail and unwavering focus on achieving the client's vision. While the initial request called for widening the doors to 36', we achieved that goal while incorporating a stylish pocket door, adding a touch of elegance and practicality. We also adhered to the client's request to avoid removing any windows. Instead, we replaced the existing windows in the bathroom with new, tempered glass windows, seamlessly blending functionality and aesthetics. To further maximize storage and functionality, a small pocket in the hallway wall was cleverly transformed into a utility cabinet, providing a discreet yet practical solution.
