Central Texas - How Long Will My Kitchen Remodel Take?

Kitchen remodeling timelines vary based on style preferences, existing conditions and the size of your kitchen.

One of the most important aspects of any kitchen remodel is creating a realistic renovation timeline and sticking to it. At DreamMaker, we are committed to providing the highest quality care and consideration for our clients throughout the entire remodeling process. Our staff is dedicated to crafting a personalized kitchen remodeling timeline for each client’s remodeling project in order to ensure clear communication and proactive measures. The first step of creating a realistic kitchen remodel timeline is deciding which type of renovation your kitchen project falls under. There are three major types of kitchen remodels including a cosmetic remodel, pull-and-replace remodel, and a custom kitchen remodel. Although every kitchen remodel is unique to the existing space and chosen products, identifying which type of renovation most closely matches your project will help develop a more accurate timeline. If your kitchen is functional for the family but sore on the eyes, a cosmetic remodel is a great choice. This type of remodel includes upgrading countertops, tile backsplash, kitchen appliances, cabinet hardware, and a fresh coat of paint. The average timeframe for a cosmetic kitchen remodel lasts roughly between 3 to 7 weeks and is comprised of 1-3 weeks of ordering and receiving materials, and 2-4 weeks of active construction. Perhaps your kitchen is beginning to show the wear and tear of time. This calls for a pull-and-replace remodel. A pull-and-replace remodel requires demolition of the existing kitchen space and often includes replacing cabinetry/hardware, countertops, backsplash, flooring, lighting/electrical, and kitchen appliances. This timeframe for this type of kitchen remodel will roughly fall between 10 to 14 weeks which encompasses 4-8 weeks of ordering and receiving materials, and 4-6 weeks of active construction. If walls/layout are the problem and space is lacking, a custom kitchen remodel is the way to go. A custom kitchen remodel includes the demolition of the existing kitchen and adjacent spaces, as appliances, electrical, and plumbing are relocated. Homeowners may also choose custom cabinetry/hardware, countertops, backsplash, flooring, and kitchen appliances. The average timeframe for a custom kitchen remodel lasts roughly anywhere from 12 to 24 weeks and includes 4-9 weeks of obtaining permits and ordering products, and 6-12+ weeks of active construction. More often than not, our team is able to finish before the planned timeline. However, despite our best efforts in planning and execution, small issues can and do arise so we may not have your project completed within the planned timeline. Rest assured that every effort will be made to complete your project as close to the planned timeline as possible so that you can use and love your new space as quickly as possible! At DreamMaker, we have systems in place to meet estimated timelines and communicate if any issues arise that could affect the timeline. Sometimes despite our best efforts in planning and execution, small issues arise that we will work through together to complete your remodel in the most efficient manner possible. This is normal in remodeling and we will work through these together. Our primary goal at DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen is to help you create the home of your dreams and we understand that oftentimes timeline plays a significant role in that. Therefore in every kitchen remodel, we strive to proactively plan a realistic timeline.
