How to Turn Your Bathroom Into a Romantic Escape

Wouldn’t you love to enjoy a spa-like bath experience in the privacy of your own home? Turn your bath space into a refuge for rest, relaxation and possibly even romance with a few simple tips. The premier home remodeling contractors at DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Central Texas explain more.

Plan Ahead

Nothing says luxury more than having a cocktail or enjoying a glass of wine in the bath while you sit back and relax, book (or magazine) in hand. And nothing destroys the mood easier than having to jump out of the tub to retrieve your eyeglasses, change out the music or to refill your drinks. The solution: a bathtub caddy or bathtub tray, which you can lay across the width of your bathtub to keep drinks, books and magazines, and other items within reach. Set everything up before climbing in so you can dive right into relaxation mode.

Set the Mood

The tinkling sound of running water and ambient lighting both can help create a spa-like, relaxing atmosphere. Build some dimmable LED lights and hidden speakers into your remodeling plans. Think about brightening up your space with flowers and artfully arranged candles, then soak in the warmth of your tub and let yourself drift away.

Perfect Bathwater

Start your bath hotter than your ideal temperature, and keep the bathroom door shut once you start running the bath. This will allow steam to build and warm up the room so the water doesn’t lose heat to the cold air too fast. A thick layer of bubbles on top of your bathwater will help keep your bathwater warm longer by insulating the top surface of the water and reducing heat loss. Also, dissolve bath salts or crystals in your bathwater to soften and perfume the water, ease your sore muscles and relieve tension.
