Beautifully Open Bathroom

This second floor bathroom was in need of an update and some extra space. Through the removal of a wall, re-facing of the vanity, a double rolling door entrance, replacing of the tight shower area, and beautiful accent features, we were able to create a beautiful space for our clients to enjoy!

The bathroom to be remodeled was located in the upstairs portion of the client’s house, which always brings its own set of challenges. We were to remove an interior wall that separated the dressing area with the bathing area, creating a much more open space. The client also asked us to raise the vanity and re-face it rather than replace it, despite it being less expensive to replace it. The finished product looks beautiful and refreshing. This client was symmetric in her thinking when it came to design, so it was important to her that any and all accent features align in a symmetrical way. We were to install glass accents in a vertical pattern in her shower, so we started with the accents first to ensure they were centered on each wall, and then added the tile in either direction from there.  She also wanted to have a double rolling door for the entrance dividing the bedroom and the bathroom. Her floor was slightly out of level along that cased opening, which was a challenge, but we were able to work around it for a great finish.  Another request of the client was to shorten the length of time it took for hot water to get upstairs, so we replaced her water heater with an on-demand heater. As far as the shower, she wanted the space to have a more open feel to it, unlike the old cave-like shower that was there previously. The ceiling of the old shower was 12” lower with tile all around. We removed that false ceiling and the partition wall and used frameless glass to make it as open as possible.
