Curt started his own remodeling business in 1998. With just a van and his tools, Curt initially focused on smaller, handyman-type projects. His company eventually accumulated significant sales and added 10 employees to the roster. But, according to Curt, since they were a traditional remodeling company that did “all things for all people,” it became frustrating to be giving a kitchen quote one day and then fixing a roof the next day, then doing a basement on another day. It made him realize that the business needed fine-tuning.

The DreamMaker franchise appealed to Curt and Deb because it reduced the scope of work and allowed for specialization. In addition, the DreamMaker coaches and leadership offered guidance along the way, allowing the couple to eventually reap the rewards of their labor.
