2017 Design Trends for Your Home

As we look to ring in the New Year, it’s predicted that we’ll be seeing certain design trends popping up in homes across the country. Some of these trends will include bold and dramatic colors while others will have a more minimalistic feel. If you’re looking to spruce up your home in 2017, you might like some of these trending designs.

Bold & Dramatic Colors

Jewel tones are expected to start making their way into homes in the form of paint colors, accent pieces and décor items like blankets and throw pillows. Think deep, vivid greens and purples. Another color to look for in the New Year is the Pantone® Color for 2017 named “Greenery”. It’s a zesty green with a refreshing and revitalizing feel – perfect for a fresh start to a new year!

Marble Accents

Marble is making a comeback in a huge way. From accent tables to countertops and even smaller pieces like cutting boards, this timeless and beautiful texture is incredibly popular right now. In fact, it’s so popular that we are seeing marble-inspired textures used in once unfamiliar places like graphic design, packaging, clothing, bed sheets and more. With its timeless beauty, it’s easy to see why everyone is loving marble. Photo source

Matte Appliances

Matte stainless steel appliances are beginning to trend higher than the shiny look we’ve become accustom to seeing. The matte look goes with the minimalistic trend we see in more sleek homes as opposed to a glossy finish. When you think matte stainless steel, you might think “slate” which is more of a dark grey look not too far off from traditional stainless steel; however, you can now get matte finish appliances in white, black and gray. If you like a more modern and minimalistic look for your home, you might be drawn to these more muted appliances. Photo source

Subway Tile

Also on the rise in popularity is the classic subway tile. The ceramic tile is making its way back into homes in the form of kitchen backsplashes and bathroom showers. Subway tile is a very popular choice on television shows like HGTV’s Fixer Upper; the show’s designer combines the clean look of the tile with marble countertops, sleek appliances and trendy décor. The subway tile is certainly an enduring look that gives your home a timeless yet on-point appearance.
